Une vision binaire de l'origine des maladies a fait négliger les autres champs de recherche. La compréhension de l'être humain et de ses maladies impose de mobiliser l'ensemble des disciplines du vivant. Autre méfait de la pensée binaire : face aux défis alimentaires et énergétiques, se demander s'il faut être pour ou contre les OGM. C'est là se tromper de question : mettons les modifications génétiques au service d'un développement durable et non de seuls intérêts marchands ! The world is producing fewer and fewer new medicines despite the success of the sequencing of the human genome.A binary view of the origin of illnesses has caused us to neglect other fields of research. Understanding human beings and their illnesses requires that we mobilize all the disciplines of the life sciences.As a further damaging effect of this binary thinking, we tend to ask ourselves, when faced with challenges in the fields of food or energy,whether we should be for or against GMOs.This is the wrong question.We need to use genetic modification in the cause of sustainable development, and not merely to satisfy commercial interests
